‘Escape Plan 2: Hades’ Scores June 29 China Release
Escape Plan 2: Hades, an upcoming action film that stars Sylvester Stallone, Huang Xiaoming, and Dave Bautista, has been scheduled to release in China on June 29, according to sources familiar with the matter. Directed by Steven·C·Miller, Escape Plan 2: Hades is a sequel to Escape Plan (2013), which raked in $137 million worldwide and $40 million in China. The sequel is backed by both American and Chinese investors. In addition to starring Chinese actor Huang Xiaoming, it was also partially filmed in China and integrated Chinese elements. Bilibili Establishes Animation Studio in Japan
Recently, Bilibili, a Nasdaq-listed Chinese video site, announces that the company will establish an animation studio in Japan. According to its job postings, Bilibili currently is seeking thirty animators, five runners and seven to eight sales people for the studio. Bilibili also states that the studio will produce about three animated films every year. Bilibili is not the first Chinese company that establishes animation studios in Japan. Following a slew of Bollywood films, such as Dangal, Secret Superstar and Hindi Medium, comedy drama Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (aka Toilet: A Love Story) is the next Indian film to be released in China. Directed by Shree Narayan Singh and starring Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar, this phenomenal film has been set to open across China on June 8, according to a recent official announcement. Toilet-Ek Prem Katha is adapted from real-life events and tells the story of a woman who threatens to leave her husband unless he installs a toilet in their home. Read more on Mtime
