First Italy-China Co-production ‘Coffee’ Set for December 30 China Release

Coffee,’ the first Italy-China co-production set in Italy, China and Belgium, has scored a December 30 China release, according to an official statement made on December 21. Baofeng Pictures is the film’s theatrical distributor in China.

Directed and produced by Italian filmmaker Cristiano Bortone, this cross-cultural drama film uses a poetic element, coffee, to link together three stories happening in three parts of the world. The cast of the Chinese story includes Tan Zhuo, appreciated actress starring in ‘Spring Fever’ (2009, Dir. Lou Ye), and famous actor Lu Fangsheng.

‘Coffee’ premiered in the Venice Days section of the 73rd Venice Film Festival. It was nominated for Best Producer at 2017 David di Donatello Award, and then nominated at the 7th Beijing International Film Festival and at the 20th Shanghai International Film Festival.
