Starting out in 1976 as a collection of films from other festivals — a "festival of festivals" — the Toronto International Film Festival has become one of the most beloved cinematic events in the world, universally regarded as an ideal platform for filmmakers to launch their careers and to premiere their new work. The Festival has been described as "the most important film festival in the world — the largest, the most influential, the most inclusive."

The San Sebastián International Film Festival is an annual FIAPF A category film festival held in the Spanish city of Donostia-San Sebastián in September, in the Basque Country. This year the Festival will be celebrating its 67th consecutive edition with the same enthusiasm felt the day it first saw the light on September 21st 1953.

Pingyao Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon International Film Festival(PYIFF) was founded by Chinese filmmaker Jia Zhang-ke and film historian Marco Müller. Held in Pingyao, a magnificent city with 2,700 years of history, PYIFF celebrates the achievements of international cinema and promotes the works of young Chinese directors. PYIFF encourages dialogue between non-Western (Chinese, Asian, Eastern European, Latin American, and African), and Western film communities. Since inception in 1992, the festival had been held in 26 cities across the country. The Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Awards have taken place on alternate years since 2005. The Golden Rooster Award will be presented in Xiamen for the following five odd years.   The 28th China Golden Rooster & Hundred Flowers Film Festival takes place in Xiamen from November 19 to 23, 2019.
