Zhang Zhao Steps Down as Chairman and CEO of Le Vision Pictures

Le Vision Pictures (or Le Chuang Entertainment) chairman and CEO Zhang Zhao has stepped down from his position, according to an official announcement. His role will be taken over by the president of Sunac Culture Sun Zhe. Currently, the two have completed the transition. After leaving Le Vision Pictures, Zhang Zhao will start a new venture soon, likely to join a film and TV investment firm under Fosun Group. Zhang Zhao joined Beijing Enlight Media in 2003 and founded Beijing Enlight Pictures in 2006. In 2011, he left Enlight and founded a new film and TV production company, which later became Le Vision Pictures. During his tenure at Le Vision, the company has collaborated with such renowned filmmakers as Zhang Yimou, Tsui Hark, and Lu Chuan. Read more on Mtime 

Milla Jovovich’s Action Film ‘The Rookies’ set for July 12 China Release

On June 23, a press conference was held in Shanghai for upcoming action film The Rookies. The film’s international cast and crew members, including Mila Jovovick, Wang Dalu and Sandrine Pinna attended the event and announced that the film had been set to release in Chinese theaters on July 12. Milla Jovovick is best known in China for playing the protagonist in the 2002 action thriller film Resident Evil. The Rookies is her first film  shot in China. Read more on Mtime

Iranian Film ‘Castle of Dreams’ Wins SIFF Top Awards

On June 23, the award ceremony of the 22nd Shanghai International Film Festival took place. Iranian film Castle of Dreams won big at the festival with three awards, including the Golden Goblet prizes for best feature, best director and best actor. Directed by Reze Mirkarmi, the film follows a father who returns home after the passing of his wife to sort things out but he doesn’t want to take the children with him. Read more on Xinhua
