Why Is Robert Downey Jr. Absent from China Premiere of ‘Avengers: Endgame’

At the recent China premiere of Marvel ‘s Avengers: Endgame, the film’s lead actor Robert Downey Jr. was unexpectedly absent from the event.  Marvel president Kevin Feige explained at the event that Robert Downey Jr. couldn’t make it to the event due to personal matters. While Kevin Feige didn’t specify the exact reason of Robert Downey Jr.’s absence, Korean media outlet NEWSEN reported that Robert Downey Jr. planned on flying to China after four days of promotions for the film in South Korea. However, his private plane was denied entry into China. Therefore, he had to returned to the US instead. As of this writing, neither Robert Downey Jr. nor Disney has verified this news. Oscar Nominee ‘Capernaum’ Set for April 29 China Release

The Cannes Film Festival Jury Prize winner, the Lebanese film Capernaum, has been scheduled to release in China on April 29. This was unveiled by the director Nadine Labaki when she attended the April 15 screening of the film in China Film Archive at the 9th Beijing International Film Festival.
