Short Video App Kuaishou Tests Long Video Feature

According to sources familiar with the matter, Chinese short video app Kuaishou is currently testing a long-video feature, which streams videos that are longer than 57 seconds but shorter than 10 minutes. Currently, this feature is only available to some users to collect feedback. In the past, Kuaishou users were only allowed to post videos that are either 11-second long or 57 second long. This new move will surely intensify Kuaishou’s competition with another short-video platform Douyin, as the latter is also testing a 15-minute long video feature. Read more on 36kr

Japanese Animated Film ‘Ride Your Wave’ to Release in China

It has been confirmed that Japanese filmmaker Masaaki Yuasa’s latest film Ride Your Wave will be brought to China for a theatrical release, although a release date is yet to be determined. A Chinese poster has also been released recently. Featuring the voices of Ryôta Katayose, Rina Kawaei, Honoka Matsumoto, the film tells a love story between a surfer and a firefighter. Ride Your Wave premiered in China at this year’s Shanghai International Film Festival and won the Best Animated Film Award at the Festival. Read more on Mtime
