Short Film Made for Beijing Winter Olympics Stars China’s Beloved Cartoon Characters 

Shanghai Animation Film Studio today unveiled a short animated film to show support for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and winter sports. The film features a group of classic cartoon characters created by the studio. In the amusing short film, some of China’s most beloved cartoon characters, including”Monkey King” Sun Wukong, Ne Zha, Snow Kid, Calabash Brothers, play a variety of winter sports. Sun Wukong competes with old rival Er Langshen in the ring. Ne Zha and young “Dragon King” Ao Bing become a pair of figure skating. Calabash Brothers even form an ice hockey team. Read more on Mtime

China Saw Strongest National Day Box Office This Year 

With the release of three main-melody films, China saw an RMB796 million (US$111.35 M) revenue at the box office on October 1st. It marked the biggest single-day box office of National Days in the past five years. Among these new releases, My People, My Country topped the box office charts with RMB 380 million (US$53.16 M), followed by The Captain with RMB257 million (US$35.95 M). The third-ranked title is The Climbers, which grossed RMB136 million (US$19 M) on the day. Pearl Studio’s animated feature Abominable earned RMB 18.59 million (US$2.6 M), ranking No.4 at the box office. Read more on Sohu
