New Self-rated PG-13 Animated Film to Release in China

Produced by Enlight Media’s animation studio Color Room, the 2019 animated film Miaoxiansheng has been scheduled to release on December 31. Posters and a newly released trailer of Miaoxiansheng include a warning that says the film may not be appropriate for audiences under 13. Directed by Li Lingxiao and written by Sanxian, Miaoxiansheng is based on the short film of the same name directed by Busifan. Busifan also directed Dahufa, which is China’s first self-rated PG-13 film. Read more on Mtime

Online Streaming Site Bilibili to Host First New Year Gala

Chinese youngsters’ favorite video sharing site Bilibili will host its first-ever New Year Gala named “2019, the Final Day” on December 31, 2019. Bilibili will also become the first video streaming company of China to host a gala concert on New Year’s Eve. The Gala features a strong line up of  millennials and Generation Z celebrities and content creators, including Chrissy Costanza, Kris Wu, Mayday, and Chinese vocaloid Luo Tianyi. Renowned pianist Richard Clayderman will also join the show, playing the music from the Harry Potter films. According to Wechat media account shuyumenggong, the move of hosting the gala reflects Bilibli’s ambition to attract more audiences beyond ACG fans and young audiences. Read more on D-entertainment
