‘Ne Zha’ Gets Second-round of Theatrical Extension

On September 17, Huaxia Film Distribution announced that the Chinese animated film Ne Zha has been permitted to extend its theatrical run for the second time. The second extension period is one month, meaning the film will stay in Chinese theaters until October 26. Since Ne Zha was released 54 days ago, the film has grossed RMB4.9 billion cumulatively in China. In North America, Ne Zha has taken in US$3 million at the local box office, exceeding Wolf Warrior 2‘s total earnings in the same region. Read more on 1905.com

Tony Leung Chiu-wai Wraps Shooting of New Film ‘The Hunting’

It was announced yesterday that The Hunting, the first Chinese film focused on “international manhunt,”  has been wrapped shooting. Two award-winning actors Tony Leung Chiu-wai and Duan Yihong play lead roles of the film. The story of The Hunting is based on a true special operation in 2014 when Chinese police hunted down economic fugitives who escaped overseas.  Leo Zhang, who recently directed  Bleeding Steel, helmed the film. In addition, it was said that actress Olga Kurylenko, the Bond girl in Quantum of Solace, and French actor Olivier Rabourdin are also in the cast of the film. Read more on Mtime
