‘Marriage Story’ To Release in China

Chinese distributor Road Pictures revealed on December 30 that 2019 American drama film Marriage Story has been imported to China for a theatrical release, although a release date is yet to be determined. A China poster of the film has also been unveiled. Directed by Noah Baumbach, the film takes a compassionate look at marriage and breakup. The film’s Chinese distributor Road Pictures previously release such internationally acclaimed arthouse films as Shoplifter and Capernaum in China. Read more on Sina 

Chinese Animated Film ‘Miaoxiansheng’ Cancels December 31 Release

The 2019 Chinese animated film Miaoxiansheng (“妙先生”) has cancelled its December 31 release, according to an announcement posted on the film’s Weibo account on December 30. The new release date is yet to be determined. Directed by Li Lingxiao, Miaoxiansheng shares the same cinematic universe with Dafuhua, another local animated feature released in 2017. The story of Miaoxiansheng is based on a short film of the same name directed by Busifan, the helmer of Dafuhua. Read more on cnBeta

Adventure Horror ’47 Meters Down: Uncaged’ Lands January 10 China Release

Directed by Johannes Roberts, the American adventure horror movie 47 Meters Down: Uncaged will hit Chinese theatres on January 10, 2020. The film follows four teen girls who are trapped by a group of deadliest sharks when they dive into an underwater city of ruins, which forces them to fight against sharks and make their escape. Sophie Nélisse, Corinne Foxx, Brianne Tju, and Sistine Stallone play as the lead characters. Read more on 1905.com
