Liu Cixin’s Sci-Fi Trilogy ‘The Three-Body Problem’ to be Adapted as Netflix Series

China’s cultural company Yoozoo Group and the U.S. streaming giant Netflix announced Tuesday that they would jointly launch a new dramatic series inspired by the Hugo Award-winning sci-fi trilogy “The Three-Body Problem.” As part of a deal with the rights-holder, the Three Body Universe (Shanghai) Cultural Development Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Yoozoo Group, Netflix has been granted the rights to produce the English-language serial adaptation of the saga, with the writer Liu Cixin and the translator Ken Liu serving as consulting producers. 33 Billion Yuan in Deals Signed at Beijing International Film Festival, Hitting a New Record High

Contracts valued at over 33 billion yuan (US$4.82 billion) in total were signed at the contract signing ceremony of the 10th Beijing International Film Festival on Friday, hitting a new record high. Twenty-one key projects were signed at the ceremony, and 110 projects were signed at the Beijing Film Market, bringing the total contract value to 33.09 billion yuan, up 7% from last year. The projects cover all aspects of the film industry chain, including film production, film financing and investment, training of young filmmakers, and the construction of cinemas, movie production bases, and cultural estates.
