‘Knives Out’ Lands China Release Date

Helmed by Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson, the 2019 American film ‘Knives Out’ has been set for release in China on November 29. Three film posters and a film trailer were released at the same time. The film stars Daniel Craig (“007”), Chris Evans (“Captain America”), Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Ana de Armas. and Christopher Plummer. With a style of Agatha Christie’s whodunnits, the murder mystery movie follows detective Benoit Blanc who investigates the death of Harlan Thrombey, a renowned mystery writer who just spent his 85th birthday in his house with his family. ‘Ruben Brandt, Collector’ Cancels November 15 Release

Hungarian animated film Ruben Brandt, Collector has canceled its China release, which was previously slated to open on November 15. As of press time, tickets of the film are still on sale on several online ticketing platforms because the cancellation came too suddenly. It is expected that refunds will be processed soon. China-Kazakhstan Co-produced ‘The Composer’ Wins Four Prizes at Golden Screen Awards

Co-hosted by by the Motion Picture Association (MPA), the China Film Co-Production Corporation (CFCC), the U.S. China Film & TV Industry Expo (UCFTI) and The Hollywood Reporter, the 2019 Golden Screen Awards ceremony was held in Los Angeles on November 9. The China-Kazakhstan co-production The Composer picked up four prizes, including Best Co-production Film, Best Leading Actor, Best Leading Actress, and Best Music. Established in 2016, the Awards is designed to celebrate co-productions between China and film industries around the world. In the meantime, the 9th “Sino-foreign Co-production Film Showcase” also opened in Los Angeles this week, which features films such as My People My Country, The Captain, The Bravest, White Snake, and The Composers.
