Hainan Island to Hold 3rd International Film Festival

An island province located on China’s southern tip, Hainan is “China’s tropical island” tourist resort. It is also the home to a budding international film festival — Hainan Island International Film Festival. Co-sponsored by the China Media Group (CMG) and the People’s Government of Hainan Province, the 3rd Hainan Island International Film Festival (HIIFF) is scheduled to take place between December 5 to 12 in Sanya, Hainan. The festival has so far received 4,376 entries from 114 countries and regions. The feature film, documentary feature film, and short feature film categories will be highlights at this year’s HIIFF. The Sequel to Sci-Fi Epic ‘The Wandering Earth’ Sets to Hit Cinemas on Spring Festival 2023

The sequel to Chinese sci-fi epic “The Wandering Earth” eyes to hit Chinese theaters in time for Spring Festival 2023, as officially announced by the project’s director last Thursday. Frant Gwo, the mastermind behind the first film, will return to direct “The Wandering Earth 2”. The film is based on a novel by Hugo Award-winning sci-fi author Liu Cixin, who will also be the executive producer to oversea the production of the sequel. The films tells the grand story of an audacious attempt by mankind to save the Earth from the sun, which is on the verge of turning into a red giant that will devour the planet. Read more Yinhe News
