Hainan Island International Film Festival Financing Forum Sets The Highest Cash Awards 

The 2nd edition of the Hainan Island International Film Festival will take place this year between December 1 and December 8. Recently, the newly added film financing section was officially launched. Named “H! Action,” the section started accepting submissions from all around the world on June 1. In addition to gaining access to potential investors and collaborators, participating filmmakers will also have the chance to win cash awards. The total amount for all cash awards is RMB 6 million ($414,000), the highest amount for film festival cash awards in the world. Read more on Mtime

Brad Pitt’s ‘Ad Astra’ May Be Released in China

Recently, a Chinese trailer of upcoming science fiction film Ad Astra was released. Starring Brad Pitt, the film has been set to open in North America on September 20. The film may be released in China, as China’s Bona Film Group invested in the film. In the film, an astronaut travels to the outer edges of the solar system to find his father and unravel a mystery that threatens the survival of our planet. Indian Sci-fi Film 2.0 Set for July 12 China Release 

2.0, a 2018 Indian science fiction movie by S. Shankar, has been set to release in Chinese theaters on July 12. A premiere event will be held in Beijing on June 28. As a sequel to the 2010 film Enthiran, 2.0 is the first Indian science fiction film to be released theatrically in China. The film is the highest grossing film in India last year with a total domestic box office of RMB 565 million. Read more on Mtime
