‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ Gets One-month Theatrical Extension
It’s announced today that Legendary Pictures Godzilla: King of the Monsters has been granted a month-long theatrical extension in China. The film opened in Chinese theaters on May 31 and has raked in RMB 884 million as of this writing. Overall, the film has made $345 million worldwide with the largest percentage coming from China. In addition to the China market, the film is also performing well in Japan. However, due to its weak performance in the North American market, there is a chance the production of the sequel will be postponed. Read more on Mtime
SIFF Presents a IMAX Tribute to Canadian Filmmaker Toni Myers
A tribute to Canadian filmmaker Toni Myers is presented by IMAX China in partnership with the Shanghai International Film Festival to honor the filmmaker’s contributions to filmmaking. Known for her 3D/IMAX work, Myers’ previous works include Gravity and Interstellar among others. On June 20, a panel organized by IMAX and FT was held in Shanghai to discuss women’s pursuit of dreams in today’s world.
