Douyin Extends Time Limit to One Minute to Encourage Vlog Content

Douyin has extended the maximum length of its video posts from 15 seconds to 1 minute for all users. Douyin announced the change today, as a part of the company’s plan to encourage users to create more and diverse original vlog content. According to Douyin, the popularity of vlog has been rising since 2018 and posts tagged with “vlog” has exceeded 15 billion views on the platform. The most popular vlogger “itsRae” has garnered more than 95 million followers on Douyin, who is also the most-followed vlogger in China. Read more on Caijing

Wanda Film Releases Financial Report for 2018

In the evening of April 25, Wanda Cinema reported that a net profit of RMB1.29 billion in 2018, a 14.58 percent year-on-year decline, on revenue of RMB14 billion. According to the report, in 2018 Wanda grossed RMB7.9 billion at the box office from its 4,807 screens in 541 theatres, a 10.1% growth year on year. ‘Endgame’ Exceeds RMB1 Billion in 44 Hours

According to the box office data from China’s Stand Office of Government Fund of National Film Development, Avengers: Endgame has crossed RMB1 billion mark in China, which took 44 hours. It broke the record for the fastest movie to take RMB1 billion mark at China’s box office. The former record holders were Avengers: Infinity War and The Fate of the Furious. Both took 48 hours to reach the mark. These are followed by Monster Hunt 2 (48 hours 31 minutes), Detective Chinatown 2 (72 hours), and Dying to Survive (72 hours). Read more on Mtime
