Chinese Talent Show ‘I am The Actor’ Getting American Remake

On November 11, China’s Zhejiang TV and American entertainment firm Is Or Isn’t Entertainment (IOI) jointly announced that IOI had acquired the rights to remake an American version of Zhejiang TV’s hit talent show I am The Actor. IOI will collaborate with Hollow Men Productions as well as Zhejiang TV to produce the remake. This deal marks the first time an original Chinese variety show gets an international remake. The deal was facilitated by CAA China. The agency also plans to bring bilingual Chinese actors to the American version of the show. Read more on Sina

Isabelle Huppert and Isabelle Adjani to Attend the Inaugural Hainan International Film Festival

The organizing committee of the inaugural Hainan International Film Festival recently announced that several internationally renowned filmmakers and actors, including Isabelle Huppert and Isabelle Adjani, would attend the Festival. The Festival has been set to take place in Hainan’s Sanya city from December 9 to December 16. Jackie Chan has been invited to be the ambassador of the Festival. Often called as “China’s Florida,” Sanya is the southernmost city on Hainan Island and known for its tropical climate. Read more on Mtime

‘Adrift’ Scores December 7 China Release

2018 American romantic drama film Adrift has scored a December 7 China release. Based on a true story and set in 1983, the film stars Shailene Woodley and Sam Claflin as a couple who are stranded in the middle of the Pacific Ocean after a hurricane, and must find their way to Hawaii with a damaged boat and no radio. The film was released in the U.S. back in June by STX Films. China’s Huayi Brothers is one of the producers of the film. Read more on Mtime
