Chinese Stars Walk the Red Carpet at Cannes Opening Night

While what celebrities wore at the Met Gala last night in New York is still a hot topic, anther red carpet visual feast is being presented on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. Today, the 71st Cannes Film Festival raised its curtain. This year, participating Chinese films include Jia Zhangke’s Ash Is Purest White, Bi Gan’s Long Day’s Journey Into Night, and Zhang Ming’s The Pluto Moment. In addition to cast and crew members from the aforementioned films, several other Chinese stars, including Fang Bingbing, Li Yuchun, Celina Jade, Ma Sichun, Aaron Kwok, and Miao Miao, also appeared on this year’s red carpet. According sources familiar with the matter, Fan Bingbing came to Cannes to promote the upcoming spy film 355 along with her co-stars Jessica Chastain, Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz, and Lupita Nyong’o. American Action Film ‘Black Water’ Scores June 8 China Release

American action film Black Water has scored a June 8 China release, much earlier than in many other territories. Starring Hollywood action stars Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren, the film follows a deep cover operative who awakens to find imprisoned in a CIA black site on a submarine. Prior to joining the cast of Black Water, Jean-Claude Van Damme had worked with Hong Kong filmmakers John Woo and Tsui Hark, and also played a minor role in Chinese comedy Jian Bing Man. Scott Adkins Joins the Cast of ‘Ip Man 4’

Action actor Scott Adkins, who once played villain “Tom Cat” in Wolf Warrior, has joined the cast of Ip Man 4, according to a picture the actor posted on social media. Adkins appears in the picture with the script of Ip Man 4 in his hand and his co-star Donnie Yen on his left side.  Adkins became popular in China after he appeared in Wu Jing’s Wolf Warrior, the first installment of the Wolf Warrior series. Born and raised in England, Scott Adkins was inspired by Bruce Lee and Jean-Claude Van Damme in his youth, and later became an action actor and martial artist.
