Can The Three-Body Cosmos Rival The Marvel Universe?

It was announced at the recent Asia-Pacific Science Fiction Convention that two upcoming comic books will be published at the end of this year as part of The Three-Body Cosmos series, which is co-developed by Youzu Interactive and Future Affairs Administration (FAA). According to FAA, the quality of the two comic books can rival that of Marvel comics. Founded by Guokr, FAA is a technological/cultural brand that focuses on the future and produces original content with futuristic vision. Youzu Interactive, which is the rights holder of Liu Cixin’s celebrated science fiction novel The Three-Body Problem, is an investor of FAA. Read more on Entertainment Capital

Star Salaries Continue to Go Up Despite Industry Regulation

Last year, a coalition of industry groups in China came together and issued guidelines to cap actors’ wages at 40 percent of a production’s total budget. WeChat media account D-entertainment takes a look at the current state of the matter to see if the guidelines are effective in preventing actors from earning unreasonably high salaries. Based on D-entertainment’s research, top stars are hardly affected by the guidelines for the following two reasons. First, continued growth of production costs enables growth in star salaries without violating the guidelines. Jia Zhangke’s ‘Ash is Purest White’ Set to Release on September 21

It was officially announced today that Jia Zhangke’s latest film Ash is Purest White, which premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, has been scheduled to open across China on September 21. According to Chinese director Zhang Yibai, who plays a minor role in the film, Ash is Purest White is the most relatable one among all the films made by Jia Zhangke. In addition to Zhang Yibai, several other Chinese directors, including Feng Xiaogang, Xu Zheng and Diao Yinan, will also appear in the film. Read more on Mtime
