“Has the Chinese Market Become a Dumping Ground for Hollywood’s Trash?” trumpeted a recent Beijing Daily headline, a pertinent question to consider in light of the smashing box office successes of xXx: The Return of Xander Cage and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter at Chinese cinemas.

These two films are hardly the only ones to have found greater success in the world’s second largest film market than at home in the US. Twenty films can now make that same claim, as illustrated by the graph above.
