The American short-form video streaming service Quibi is shutting down just six months after it launched. The platform targeted younger viewers with 10-minute, movie-quality shows meant to be watched on mobile. Quibi launched in April 2020 and was available in its home market, Canada, and parts of Europe. But after its first week, it had fallen out of the top 50 most downloaded apps in the US. iQiyi hosted 2020 iJoy Conference in Shanghai on October 22. The company announced a 10 billion yuan investment plan, including cash and online traffic to support the website’s valuable branding partners. The resources cover a new consumption fund, business connections in content and stars and traffic support, which the company hopes can help attract more brands to take part in digital advertising with iQiyi. The Conference served as a platform for iQiyi to announce its content and marketing strategy for 2021 and discuss the future prospects of China’s entertainment industry with brand advertisers and iQiyi partners.
