Will Chinese Films Earn Big This National Day Holiday?

The National Day holiday is a major box-office earner for the Chinese mainland. In 2019, the holiday brought in a whopping sum of 4.38 billion yuan ($642 million) in a single week. While 2020’s National Day box office is sure to be impacted by COVID-19, three big releases that was originally set for Spring Festival (“Leap”, “Legend of Deification” and “Vanguard”) are also competing in the same week, making it one of the busiest holiday week in the past few years. 7th Silk Road International Film Festival Kicks Off in Xi’an

The 7th Silk Road International Film Festival, under the guidance of China Film Administration, will be held from Oct. 11 to 16 in Xi’an, the capital city of northwest China’s Shaanxi province. Co-sponsored by Shaanxi Provincial People’s Government and Fujian Provincial People’s Government and themed “Silk Road Links the World, Film Connects Cultures,” the festival consists of six major events including film screening, film forum and film market. More than 500 films will be screened online and in cinemas. Over 70 percent of the 102 films to be screened this year are from countries and regions located along the Belt and Road. Read more xasriff
