Tickets Sold Out Too Fast? Don’t Worry, Come to Check Out the Online Screenings of Beijing Film Festival

Tickets for movie screenings at the 10th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) went on sale at noon this Wednesday, with 72% selling out in the first 10 minutes. Tickets to watch the works of big-name filmmakers were snapped up quickly. A variety of offerings including “Akira,” “War and Peace,” “Wet Season,” “Cinema Paradiso,” “The Elephant Man,” the Matrix trilogy, “Apocalypse Now” were sold out in the shortest time. In the coming days, the BJIFF will offer a second round of ticket sales, but in the meantime, do not forget to check out the films that will be put on iQiyi for streaming as one of the collaborations between the Chinese streamer and BJIFF. Tom Hanks-starring Drama ‘A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood’ Sets China Release Date

Tom Hanks’ “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” has confirmed a Sept 18 theatrical release date in China. The film will join a thickening crowd of domestic and international films that will hit Chinese big screens in the following six weeks. The film, about beloved U.S. TV host Mr. Rogers, received investment from China’s Tencent Pictures in the early part of last year. Tencent originally planned to release the film in February after the Oscars ceremony, for which Hanks was nominated as a supporting actor. But the plan was upended by the coronavirus outbreak and the closure of cinemas from Jan. 23. As Chinese cinemas are getting back on track fast in the past few weeks, more and more new films have now confirmed their release dates. Read more Mtime
