This December, China’s Hainan International Film Festival Has Ambitious Plans

Since its inception in 2018, Hainan International Film Festival has quickly become one of the most important film festivals in China. Located in the southern tropical island of China, the first two editions of the festival were a steep learning curve. The post-coronavirus period may now provide a less pressurized period to straighten out the kinks. Unlike this year’s Shanghai and Beijing Film Festival that operated in restricted fashion, Hainan is planning to bring in a limited number of key visitors from outside the country to build up the festival as an event of international standing. 15th Changchun Film Festival Unveils Big Winners During Closing Ceremony

The big winners of the 2020 Golden Deer Awards were unveiled during the closing ceremony of the 15th Changchun Film Festival (CCFF) on Thursday. The highly anticipated independent feature “Spring Tide” lived up to expectations to become the biggest winner. It took home the Golden Deer Jury Grand Prize, while its director Yang Lina won the Best Director Award. “My People, My Country,” directed by famous Chinese director Chen Kaige, won the Best Picture Award.
