‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ Secures Simultaneous Release in China and North America
It was announced on November 29 that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will have a wide release in China day and date with North America on December 20. In addition, sneak preview screenings of the film will start nationwide in China in select theaters on December 18. Directed by J.J. Mainland Chinese Films ‘Li Na’ ‘Ash Is The Purest White’ and ‘Vanguard’ to Be Released in Taiwan
The 2020 selection of mainland Chinese films that get theatrical releases in Taiwan was unveiled on November 27. Each year, Taiwan allows for 10 films from mainland China, selected through the quota lottery system, to hit local cinemas. This year, a total of 62 films from mainland China submitted applications for gaining theatrical slots. Selected films are Jia Zhangke’s Ash Is The Purest White, Peter Chan’s Li Na, Jackie Chan-starring Vanguard, Mr. Monster, Manchuria Tiger, Suburban Birds, Special Couple, The Rookies, Bright Mountain at Night and Xiao Shi Zai Lao Jie De Shao Nian (消失在老街的少年).
