4K Restored Version of ‘Life Is Beautiful’ May Get Theatrical Release In China

The 4K restored version of Italian classic film Life Is Beautiful, directed by Roberto Benigni, has passed Chinese censors and may get a theatrical release in China next year, according to sources familiar with the matter. On Chinese film review site Douban, the film receives an average score of 9.5/10 and has been rated No.5 on the list of Top 250 films of all time. Bona Boss Indicates Development of Bruce Lee Films Following the IP Man Series

Produced by China’s Bona Film Group, Ip Man 4 will be released nationwide in China on December 20. It is the final installment of the Ip Man series, which includes four movies released from 2008 to 2019. Donnie Yen, who stars in the series as the renowned martial artist Ip Man, also said Ip Man 4 will be his final kung-fu movie. These led many to wonder who will be the next kung-fu hero in Chinese-language cinema. At Ip Man 4‘s premiere ceremony held in Foshan, Guangdong on December 17, Bona’s president Yu Dong responded to the inquiry, saying the next movie hero of the studio will be Bruce Lee. He said that “… [we] hope to continue to produce kung-fu, action movies and work with our Ip Man production team. In Ip Man 4, we carried a foreshadowing – that is Bruce Lee.” The Bruce Lee character first appeared in the 3rd film of the series and will have more screen time in Ip Man 4.
