New Amendment to CEPA Further Opens Up Mainland Film Market to Hong Kong

According to Xinhua News, a new amendment to the Mainland and Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) has been signed on November 21. The new amendment further opens up several market sectors including legal, architecture, film, TV, tourism, in mainland China to Hong Kong companies and individuals. The importation of Hong Kong films and TV shows to mainland will not be limited by the previously set quotas any more. The mainland film regulators will also waive the registration fee for mainland-Hong Kong film co-production projects. Last but not least, Hong Kong elements such as cast and crew members in a mainland production will not be limited any more. Read more on Mtime

Feng Xiaogang’s ‘Only Cloud Knows’ Reveals Full Cast

Only Cloud Knows, the latest work of Chinese director Feng Xiaogang, recently released a new film poster with three main actors, Huang Xuan, Yang Caiyu, and Xu Fan (Feng’s wife). Based on a true romantic story, the film follows a Chinese man who suffers from the loss of his beloved wife and decides to take the journey to fulfill her incomplete dream. Xu Fan plays the landlord of a residential house in New Zealand, where Huang and Yang met as they were both tenants. Previously, Xu starred in multiple films helmed by Feng, including The Dream Factory, Be There or Be Square, Aftershock, and Back to 1942. 35th Hundred Flowers Awards to Take Place in Zhengzhou, Henan

The 29th Golden Rooster & Hundred Flowers Film Festival and the 35th Hundred Flowers Awards will be held in Zhengzhou, Henan Province. The biennial Hundred Flowers Awards are designed to award films and filmmakers based on the results of audiences’ votes.
