Maoyan and Taopiaopiao Offer Free Ticket Cancellation Amid Wuhan Pneumonia

To prevent the Wuhan pneumonia spread, the two biggest Chinese online ticketing platforms Maoyan and Taopiaopiao today released two statements respectively. Both statements said that people in Wuhan who have purchased movie tickets to film screenings during Chinese New Year holiday can cancel their tickets and request refunds without being charged a fee. The platforms are also communicating with movie theatres outside of Wuhan on the refund issues. Data shows that Wuhan was the eighth largest ticket warehouse in the country on last year’s Chinese New Year Day. This year, however, the Chinese New Year day pre-sale box office of Wuhan only could rank 14th and might continue to fall. Read more on htysda

‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ Set to Release in China on February 28

Based on the video game franchise by Sega, the 2020 American Sci-fi adventure film Sonic the Hedgehog has been scheduled to release in China on February 28. Directed by Jeff Fowler, the film stars Jim Carrey, James Marsden, and Ben Schwartz as the voice of the title character Sonic the Hedgehog, a blue anthropomorphic hedgehog from another world.
