Is ‘More Than Blue’ Another Marketing Miracle Created by Douyin?

Taiwanese romantic drama film More Than Blue has earned 510 million yuan ($76.2 million) in mainland China after six days in release, overtaking Capital Marvel to top the current box office charts. While there is no doubt that the film is winning over Chinese audience because of its good production and compelling storytelling, many also attribute its box office success to Douyin. As of now, short videos with the hashtag of #morethanblue has been played over 600 million times on Douyin. Thanks to its interactive, social and immersive features, Douyin has become an important platform for film promotion. Seven Prominent Filmmakers to Co-direct Film for the 70th Anniversary of PRC’s Founding

Today, a launch ceremony for the upcoming film Me and My Country took place in Beijing. The film will be directed by seven prominent Chinese filmmakers, including Chen Kaige, Ning Hao, Xu Zheng, Zhang Yibai, Guan Hu, Xue Xiaolu, and Wen Muye. Eying the 2019 National Day release, the film is a tribute to the 70th anniversary of the founding of PRC. The film will cover the recent 70 years through stories of ordinary Chinese people. Spanish Thriller ‘The Warning’ to Release in China

After the film The Invisible Guest, another Spanish suspense thriller The Warning (El aviso) will arrive in China’s theaters soon with a release date of March 29, 2019. A series of Chinese poster have been unveiled today, featuring main characters of the film. Directed by  Daniel Calparsoro and based on the novel of the same name by Paul Pen, The Warning tells a story of a mathematician Jon discovering a mysterious mathematical pattern behind a series of murders.
