Adapted from Keigo Higashino’s Novel, IQiyi’s New Original Film Started Production

 IQiyi’s new original film, adapted from Keigo Higashino’s novel Samayou Yaiba (さまよう刃), made headlines recently for its production announcement. As one of the first films that started production in the post-pandemic age, this new film brought in positive energy to the troubled film industry that is still subject to great uncertainty because of the continuing movie theater closure. Notably, as IQiyi’s first original film that goes into production this year, this adapted film is also part of IQiyi’s ongoing effort to extend its film library by creating more original contents. Funded by leading Chinese auteur Jia Zhangke, the 86358 Short Film Festival is aimed at promoting authentic Chinese short films and discovering promising young filmmakers. This year marks the fourth edition of the festival, and it will still be held at Jia Zhangke’s hometown Fenyang, Shanxi.
