Box Office Hit ‘Dying to Survive’ Gets North America Release Date

Chinese dark comedy Dying to Survive has been scheduled to release on August 9 in North America. First released in the summer of 2018, the film championed China’s box office at the time with a total gross of RMB3.098 billion. It also won Xu Zheng, the film’s male lead, the Best Actor awards at the last year’s Golden Horse Awards. Directed by Wen Muye, Dying to Survive is based on the true story of Lu Yong who was detained for smuggling cheaper drugs from India for leukemia patients. With ‘Ne Zha,’ is Enlight Media The Biggest Winner This Summer?

On July 30, Enlight Media released two statements to report the company’s revenues from the box office of two recent-released films, Ne Zha and Looking Up. According to the statements, Enlight Media expects to earn between RMB203 million and RMB RMB243 million from the box office revenues of Ne Zha. As of July 29, Ne Zha has grossed RMB899 million from its theatrical release. The box office success of Ne Zha also helped improve Enlight Media’s performance in the stock market. The company’s stock price has been increasing by over 15% since July 13, when Ne Zha was in limited release. As for Looking Up, the company expected revenues between RMB7 million and RMB8.8 million from the film’s grossing of RMB760 million (July 29).
