Diao Yinan’s ‘Wild Goose Lake’ Enters Cannes Competition Section

On April 18, the 72nd Cannes Film Festival unveiled the majority of its lineup. Three Chinese-language films have been selected. The Wild Goose Lake, directed by the filmmaker Diao Yinan (Black Coal, Thin Ice), has been selected in the main competition with other 15 films. Zu Feng’s directorial debut feature Summer of Changsha and Midi Z’s Zhuo Ren Mi Mi has been selected in Un Certain Regard section. The 2019 Cannes Film Festival takes place May 14 – May 25. Alejandro G. Iñárritu chairs the jury president for the Cannes this year. Jim Jarmusch’s The Dead Don’t Die has been announced as the festival’s opening night film as well as another contender for Palme d’Or. Read more on Mtime

China Film Bureau Takes Measures to Curb ‘Avengers 4’ Ticket Price

It is reported that China Film Bureau has required that China’s cinemas cannot charge more than 10% service fees in selling tickets for Avengers 4: Endgame. Due to the popularity of the film, some cinemas in China have increased the ticket price of the movie as well as service fees. China Film Bureau requires cinemas to adjust the ticket price before April 21. Otherwise, cinemas will be restricted to download the encryption key of the film. The latest news shows that the midnight show for Avengers 4: Endgame has crossed RMB100 million mark at the box office. French Comedy Film ‘La ch’tite famille’ Scores May 10 China Release

2018 French comedy drama film La ch’tite famille has been set to release in China on May 10. In the film, a French public servant from Provence is banished to the far North. Strongly prejudiced against this cold and inhospitable place, he leaves his family behind to relocate temporarily there, with the firm intent to quickly come back.
