‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Scores March 22 China Release

20th Century Fox announced today on its official Weibo account that Bohemian Rhapsody would be released in China on March 22 through the country’s arthouse cinema alliance. Bohemian Rhapsody is a 2018 biographical film about Freddie Mercury, lead singer of the British rock band Queen. The film is directed by Bryan Singer and starring Rami Malek who just won an Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrait of Freddie Mercury in this film. Read more on Mtime

IMAX China Reports Profit Drop in 2018

On February 27, IMAX China released the company’s performance report for 2018. According to the report, IMAX China earned $337 million in ticket sales in the Greater China region, up 16% year-over-year. About 30% of the total box office was generated by Chinese language films. Unfortunately, the increase in box office didn’t lead to increase in revenue. The report shows that IMAX China made $117.5 million in total revenue last year, down 7% year-over-year. Net profit also dropped by 2.7% to $75.3 million. As of December 31, 2018, 624 IMAX theater systems have been installed in China with another 272 systems to be installed in coming years. ‘The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part’ Set for China Release

It was announced today that animated comedy film The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, produced by Warner Brothers Pictures, has been set to release in China on March 22. The film features Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Alison Brie, as well as “Aquaman” Jason Momoa, who voiced the Aquaman character in the Lego world.
