Will Oscar Winners Premiere Online in China?

Seven of this year’s Oscar-winning films, including Marriage Story, Little Women, Jojo Rabbit, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Parasite, 1917, and Ford v. Ferrari, will be released on Chinese video streaming site iQiyi, according to a post published on iQiyi’s Weibo account. iQiyi also released special posters for each film on Weibo after the 92nd Academy Awards ceremony took place in Los Angeles on February 9. In the posters, iQiyi marked Jojo Rabbit, Marriage Story, and Ford v. Ferrari as “coming soon” while the other five titles with “stay tuned.” It’s unclear if these films will be released in Chinese theaters before they become available online. Read more on Mtime

China Releases of ‘Marriage Story’ and ‘Little Women’ Officially Cancelled

It was announced last night that the Oscar winning American drama film Marriage Story‘s February 28 China release had been cancelled due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. Then this morning, Sony announced that Greta Gerwig’s Little Women also cancelled its China release, which was previously set for February 14. New release dates for these two films have yet to be determined. But both Sony (Little Women) and Road Pictures (Marriage Story) stated that these two films would premiere in theaters instead of online in China. Read more on Mtime
