Warner Music and Tencent Music Entertainment Group said Tuesday that they have expanded their long-running licensing relationship while also partnering on a new joint venture record label targeting the China market. Under the expanded deal, Warner Music’s repertoire will be made available across all of Tencent’s online music platforms in mainland China. The new rules come as China seeks to expand the internet industry’s role in driving the country’s economic growth, while providing more protection for consumers’ personal information.
