The One International Women’s Film Festival Opens “Work in Progress” Unit, Calls for Entries

The One International Women’s Film Festival is the first and only women-themed film festival officially approved by Chinese government. Held in Chengdu, China in September every year, ONEIWFF supports independent female filmmakers and focuses on women’s topics and development of feminism. The festival contains 5 main parts including screening, project market, seminar, film  events and public benefit activity. The “Working in Progress” is a new section that aims to help in-progress projects to complete production. The “WIP” section just opened submission portal on Friday. Read more ONEIWFF

Netflix to Release First Co-produced Chinese Animation Film 

China’s Pearl Studio is working with Netflix to produce and release a Chinese animated musical titled “Over the Moon.” The new film will be an animated family feature directed by the legendary animator Glen Keane, revolving around the story of a girl who builds a rocket to travel to the moon in hopes of meeting Chang’e, the Chinese goddess of the moon. Pearl Studio co-produced animated blockbuster “Kung Fu Panda 3” with DreamWorks Animation. Their most recent effort was the Jill Culton-directed animated adventure film “Abominable” last year.
