Tencent’s WeTV Partners with BEC World to Distribute Thai Dramas

Tencent Video’s international streaming platform WeTV has formed a strategic partnership with BEC World, the operator of Thailand Television Channel 3, to exclusively stream drama series produced by Channel 3 in 2020. According to the agreement, WeTV Thailand, Tencent Video, and Mello, Channel 3’s own OTT platform, will be the only three platforms that are allowed to synchronously stream Channel 3 TV drama content this year. To other Asian regions where WeTV is available, the platform can distribute these Thai dramas as on-demand programs. In addition, Tencent video will acquire three Channel 3 shows. The agreement will help the Chinese video streaming giant localize itself and deepen its connections with local Thai content providers and audiences. Launched in 2019, WeTV has landed in Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and India. Hit Chinese shows such as The Untamed, My Girlfriend Is An Alien, Put Your Head on My Shoulder are also included in WeTV’s lineup. Read more on Sina

China-New Zealand Co-production ‘Mosley’ Set for China Release

Co-produced by New Zealand’s animation company Huhu Studios and China Film Animation, the 2019 animated feature ‘Mosley’ today announced it will be released in Chinese multiplexes on February 7. Film posters and a trailer of the film were also rolled out today. Directed by Kirby Atkins, the film tells the story of Mosley, a “thoriphant” who rebels against his fate of servitude and embarks on a journey to free himself and his family. Read more on Mtime
