Movie Theaters in Low-Risk Areas in Beijing Will Reopen Starting From July 24

The Beijing Municipal Film Department just green-lit the local cinemas in Beijing to reopen this coming Friday. Notably, July 24 is also when the first new Hollywood titles will hit the market, including Dolittle and Bloodshot. There are in total 262 cinemas in Beijing, but under the current guidance, only cinemas in the capital’s low-risk areas will resume operations, with those in medium-high risk areas will remain closed. About 155,000 Moviegoers Attended Screenings on the First Day of Reopening

According to Maoyan data, there were about 1271 cinemas opened and resumed operation on the first day of cinema reopening in 175 cities in China. That accounted for about 11.2% of the nation’s total. About 155,000 moviegoers attended screenings, which generates a one-day box office of RMB 3.476 million. As the industry continues to recover in an orderly manner, more films will be available to the audience as more and more distributors release their films in a well-recovered market.
