Market Research Shows That Over 40% Theaters Believe That They Would Go Bankrupt This Year 

In a recent market research conducted by Chinese Film Distribution Association, a staggering 40% of the interviewed theaters believe that they would have to permanently close their businesses this year. Until the end of March, 20% theaters nationwide have laid off employees, and 12% theaters have downgraded their pay rate, but there are also 68% theaters have vowed not to lay off any employees. Chinese TV producers like to adopt Japanese TV series because of the relatively low licensing fee and similarities between these two cultures, but most of these adopted works did not perform well because of the lack of localization.
