Cinema in Xinjiang Reopens After 50 Days of Closure
Recently, a movie theater in Xinjiang owned by China Film announced its reopening on its official WeChat account after 50 days of closure. Movies that are currently available at this theater includes several family friendly animations and four old domestic drama films. No new releases are available at this moment. As of March 16, the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has 76 confirmed COVID-19 cases with zero new cases for the past 27 consecutive days. Read more on Mtime
Art and Film Schools Change Admission Policies In Response to COVID-19
Earlier this year, many art and film schools in China announced delay in their admission work due to the coronavirus outbreak, which made many students assume that the admission tests and interviews would be postponed to late summer. On March 12, China’s Ministry of Education ordered art and film schools across the country to avoid onsite tests or interviews, and conduct these exams online instead. Schools are also required to release admission guidelines and schedule as soon as possible in order for students to start preparing accordingly. In response to this government order, eight major film schools acted swiftly and announced new admission policies the next day. According to the new policies, certain majors will cancel onsite interviews and enroll students based solely on NCEE score (The National College Entrance Examination). Other majors, such as acting, will conduct interviews online instead of onsite. It’s not mentioned as to whether the NCEE will be postponed. Read more on Entertainment Capital
