Chinese Animation Studio and Theme Park Giant Fanta Wild to Launch IPO

Fanta Wild, a Chinese entertainment group considered by some as China’s Disney, is planning to launch IPO. In less than ten years, this entertainment powerhouse has opened 23 theme parks across China. In addition, it has 21 theme parks being built and to be launched in the near future. By number of visitors, Fanta Wild is the fifth largest theme park company in the world behind Disney, Merlin, Universal Studios and Overseas Chinese Town Group. While its competitors mainly target first-tier Chinese cities, Fanta Wild is determined to dominate the theme park market in the second and third tier cities. Last year, Fanta Wild made RMB 787 million in net profit, although its theme park business is not profitable yet. Read more on Entertainment Capital

Jiang Zhangke Finishes Filming ‘So Close To My Land’

Renowned Chinese director Jia Zhangke announced on his Weibo account today that he had just completed filming his new film So Close To My Land. He posted a poster of the film on Weibo along with the announcement. According to Jia, he spent 66 days, used four cameras and traveled 2777 kms crossing four provinces to shoot the film. Jia Didn’t mention what the film is about and who the crew members are except revealing the cinematographer’s name. Read more on Mtime
