China’s Top Female Directors Join Force for ‘HerStory’

Three of China’s top female filmmakers Sylvia Chang, Li Shaohong, and Joan Chen are joining hands for a new film titled “HerStory” looking back on the uneasy year of 2020 marred by the COVID-19 pandemic. The film is in the form of an anthology consisting of three short stories set in 2020. The filmmakers wanted to inspire the world by telling stories from a female perspective about the struggles of normal people, especially women, in their normal life, loves, emotions, career and families under pressures of a major crisis. The female movie stars participating in the project include Zhou Xun, Sammi Cheng, Xu Di, Nina Paw and a special appearance of 91-year-old Zhu Yafen, teacher of world-famous pianist Lang Lang.
