China’s Film Market Generates $581 Million During the National Day Holiday

According to box office tracker platform Lighthouse, the Chinese film market generated a whopping sum of 3.95 billion yuan ($581 million) during the eight-day National Day Holiday, significantly tightening the year box office gap between itself and the North America market. Nearly 100 million visits to cinemas made this year’s “Golden Week” the second-best National Day holiday performance ever in history. IQIYi’s Summer Hit Suspense Drama “The Bad Kids” to Premiere in Japan Next Year

Chinese streaming firm iQiyi recently announced that Japan’s leading premium satellite television station WOWOW has acquired the distribution right of its suspense drama “The Bad Kids”—an iQiyi original series that went popular and received wide acclaims among Chinese audience earlier this summer. As part of iQIYI’s “Mist Theater”, a content library dedicated to iQIYI’s original suspense dramas, “The Bad Kids” is the first Chinese series that is directly acquired by WOWOW and the first Chinese modern drama that will be shown on its channel.
