China to Livestream The Oscar Ceremony with Chinese Commentators

CCTV’s movie channel CCTV-6 and its official website 1905.com will livestream the 91st Academy Award ceremony on February 25 at 7:30 AM local time. Since this year’s ceremony has no host, three Chinese guest commentators are invited to interpret and comment on the live broadcast for Chinese audiences. The three guests are Gudabaihua, who is known for his translations of Western films and TV dramas in China, film critic Zhou Liming, and CCTV-6’s host Jiang Xiaohan. Read more on people.cn

3D Animated Film ‘Monster Family’ Set for March 29 China Release

It’s announced today that the 2017 British-German computer animated horror comedy film Monster Family has been scheduled to release in China on March 29. Based on David Safier’s children’s book Happy Family, the film is directed and produced by Holger Tapper and co-written by David Safier. ‘The Wandering Earth’ Joins RMB 4-Billion Club

It’s announced on February 19 that the total box office of The Wandering Earth has passed 4 billion yuan (US$ 595 million). It is the second film that passes the 4 billion mark, following Wolf Warrior 2. As of now, Wolf Warrior 2 is the only movie that made more than 5 billion yuan domestically. Other films that grossed more than 3 billion yuan include Operations Red Sea, Detective Chinatown 2, The Mermaid, and Dying to Survive.
