Alibaba’s Youku to Produce China’s ‘Life in a Day’ 

Alibaba-owned streaming site Youku is collaborating with MeDoc, a Shanghai-based documentary production company, to produce China’s first crowdsourced documentary film about life in a day of coronavirus outbreak. The film will be comprised of clips showing people’s lives from all over the country on February 9, 2020, the 18th day of Wuhan lockdown due to the covid-19 outbreak. Titled One More Day (“余生一日”), the new documentary records people from all walks of life and their lives during the time when the whole country is battling with the virus. It makes use of the form of Life in a Day, the 2011 documentary compiled select clips from over 45,000-hour footages submitted by people around the world to YouTube. This time, nearly 5,000 volunteers joined the shooting plan. One More Day is currently in post-production and is eying to launch online in March. Read more on Beijing News

Highly Anticipated New Romantic Drama Announced Amid Coronavirus Outbreak

Since January 23, there has been zero news about launching new film production projects in China because of the looming uncertainty cause by the coronavirus outbreak. This situation was just changed by the announcement of the launch of a new romantic drama film named On Your Wedding Day, which will be co-produced by Enlight Media and Dream Chase Pictures. The news quickly became a trending topic on Chinese social media site Weibo, as the film will star the recently famed Taiwanese actor Greg Hsu. Hsu rose to fame because of his performance in hit romantic drama series Someday or One Day. His recent film A Sun was recently released on Netflix and received a decent score of 8.4/10 on Chinese film review site Douban.
