James Wong Howe
About the author James Wong Howe (1899-1976) was a pioneering Chinese-American cinematographer and director who worked on over 130 films. At the height of his career during Hollywood's Golden Age, he was one of the industry's most sought-after cameramen. Working with directors including Victor Fleming, Howard Hawks, Raoul Walsh, Fritz Lang, Robert Rosson and Martin Ritt, he was nominated ten times for the Academy Award in cinematography, winning twice.
